Creating a new page
To create a new page:
- Select Create a new Page from the SchwaBar
- Enter a title for the page. This appears in the title bar of the browser
- If your site has more than one theme, select the theme you would like to use. A theme sets the overall look and feel of the site, and may change things such as colour or layout. If you don't see a theme option, your site only has one theme.
- If your site has more than one template, there the template you would like to use. Templates are related to themes, but instead of defining the look and feel, templates generally change page specific elements, such as adding a sidebar
- You can also choose to publish the page straight away, although it is probably best to leave the page as a draft at this point
- If you don't want this page to appear in the menu system, simply un-check the This page has a menu check box. If you do, you can select where it fits in the hierarchy buy checking the radio button of the parent page. You can also change the position of the page in the menu by dragging the new item up and down.
- Hit Create
As you type in the title of the page, both the permalink field (by default hidden — click on Search Engine Optimisation to show it) and the menu title field will automatically update. The automatically generated value is probably fine for most situations, but feel free to change them.
You can also create a description and set keywords of the page at this stage if you want. However if you don't you can automatically generate them later on.
